In their second game, they fell to China after failing to score. They were also constantly on the defense as China held 59% of the possession.

They almost settled for a draw, but for a collapse in the defense during the first minute of stoppage time, which allowed Wang Lisi to score for China and give them the victory.

Desperately trying to turn things around in the final game of the group stages, the Dutch faced the tournament hosts Canada.

They found themselves behind early as Ashley Lawrence scored in the 10th minute of the contest.


However, it was their turn to score late as Kirsten van de Van scored in the 87th minute of the contest to tie things up and level the score at 1-1.

They finished third with four points in the group to qualify for the knockout rounds.

Meanwhile, Japan were expected to go far in the competition as they are the defending champions.

They certainly looked the part during the group stages as they swept all their games. They first beat Switzerland 1-0, before outlasting Cameroon 2-1.

In the final contest, they beat Ecuador 1-0 to finish on top of their group and automatically advance in the competition.

With the winner advancing to the quarters, expect both the teams to fight for the full 90 minutes.
